Introduction
Every once in a while the team get to investigate a site, which is, shall we say 'virgin territory'. Ken Taylor is an L&E member and works at the college. So with lots of planning from the staff and lots of research done by Val and Ken we secured an investigation at this College which for the privacy of the college will remain anonymous.
As Ken and Val had been doing the research and were very much keeping the information to themselves and as there had been reports of activity at the site, I couldn't wait to get the team in there.
We were not disappointed!

9:50pm- Temp Stairwell 25c, each end of corridor 25c.
9:59pm- Team split. Ken, Rab and Paul moves walk around corridors and Julie
And Kerry stay at 1st passage to left of main staircase.
Kerry and Julie make themselves comfortable on the small set of steps
that leads to the 1st corridor.
- Both Kerry and Julie feel uneasy and don't want to sit with their backs to
the passage or corridor to main staircase.
- Orb on camcorder to left right of Kerry.
Julie takes photograph at the same time and captures the orb.
Kerry's face feels very itchy.
- Julie sees a shadow move across the reflection of window directly
opposite the set of steps.
Kerry feels very uneasy.
- Both Kerry and Julie hear a tinkling bell that they liken to a fire alarm
but seems very gentle and high pitched like a clock chime. This is also
heard by the rest of the team as they walk at the far end of corridor.
- Rest of team move off.
- Julie is very warm except for a spot on her back.
- Julie and Kerry hear a tap down the corridor.
- Kerry calls out.
- Kerry and Julie hear a noise down the end of the corridor.
- Julie calls out.
Footfall heard down corridor.
- Orb on camcorder to the immediate right of Kerry.
- Julie calls out for spirit to make a noise closer to her and Kerry.
Tap heard on the floor about 6ft away from them.
- Julie calls out.
Tap heard.
- Julie's hair is standing on end.
- Kerry hears light rustling and attributes it to a female spirit.
Julie calls out of there is a female spirit present.
No response.
- Are you male?
Tap heard.
- Julie calls out for spirit to prove their existence.
Loud metallic 'ding' heard down corridor.
- Julie asks for spirit to approach slowly.
- Kerry's right big toe feels like it is burning and feels as though spirit
would have had a limp.
- Julie asks if it's true?
Short dragging noise followed by metallic click heard at bottom of set of
steps.
Julie calls out to the rest of team but there is no reply.
- Julie and Kerry both hear a noise which is caught faintly on camcorder.
- Low moan heard at bottom of steps.
- Kerry feels a breeze go past her from direction of corridor and has goose
pimples.
- Julie calls out.
Julie feels breeze on left forearm.
- Kerry can hear clicks come from behind her from direction of corridor
and feels the breeze again.
10:11pm- Very loud tap is heard.
Kerry calls out.
Orb on camcorder to Kerry's right (right of top of steps).
Kerry continues to call out.
- Julie picks up on a group of fairly young men and feels like they are all
staring at us wondering what we are up to as they haven't been contacted
before.
- Kerry calls out for spirit to make a noise as she calls out a tap is heard
down the corridor followed by a loud click half way down the corridor.
- Julie feels that the men are about 18-18 years old.
- Kerry calls out.
- Julie picks up on an American connection. Kerry thinks this is odd as she
picked up on an American soldier down the other end of the corridor on
the walk around.
- Julie calls out, 'is this making sense?'
- Julie and Kerry hear a dragging noise as though someone is moving a
sack.
- Julie has a pain in her back (at bottom of left ribs) as though someone
has poked her with a stick.
- Kerry calls out.
- Julie and Kerry hear a sigh.
- Julie calls out for the pain to be taken away.
- Kerry and Julie can hear breathing.
- Kerry asks for the spirit to make himself known to the rest of the team
that are in another area.
- Kerry and Julie hear a faint noise but attribute it to the rest of the team.
10:17pm- Kerry and Julie hear a noise down the end of the corridor and feel very
cold.
- Julie can hear music.
- Kerry can hear a tap dripping.
- Julie feels that the spirits are definitely soldiers and they feel as though
they should not be communicating with us.
10:18pm- Footfall heard.
- Julie and Kerry walk down the corridor and join the rest of the team.
- The rest of the team moves off. Before Kerry and Julie leave the area
they hear walking. Julie calls out to the rest of the team but it is not
them as they have already moved off.
- Kerry and Julie catch up with the rest of the team and they all move
back to the 1st corridor steps.

- Julie calls out.
- Rab feels a breeze go past him (he is in same position as Kerry had been
earlier).
- Rab said 'He's moved'.
- Julie asked why 'he' as she hadn't mentioned to Rab what she picked up
on.
- Ken sees something down the end of the corridor which Kerry finds odd
as there were constant naked eye light changes when her and Julie were
here earlier.
Ken calls out as he walks down the corridor.
Orb caught on photograph above Ken's head.
- Ken continues to call out and feels very cold.
- Rab is given the surname 'Jennings'.
- Rab is given the name 'James'.
- Kerry follows Ken down the corridor and both hear running.
- Rab calls out and keeps seeing movement down the end left of corridor.
- Julie's back starts to hurt again.
- Ken moves to the end of the corridor, Julie, Paul and Rab move to the
bottom of steps and Kerry films half way down the corridor.
- Camcorder is trained on Ken and goes out of focus.
Orb on camcorder.
- Kerry calls out for James to come forward.
No response.
- Ken calls out.
Camcorder goes out of focus again and is still trained on Ken.
- Kerry moves to area where Rab and Julie are.
Rab and Julie have heard small taps and footsteps.
Everyone feels as though they are being followed.
- Noise heard near main staircase.
- Julie calls out.
- Rab feels like the spirits are playing a game with us as the noises are all
over the area.
- Rab hears taps again.
- Kerry calls out.

10:01pm- Slight taps heard down the corridor.
- Julie can hear marching.
10:03pm- Orb on camcorder to right of top of steps.
- Julie calls out.
10:05pm- All hear a noise like dragging. Ken said that the noise is the hand drier in
the toilets where the motion sensors are set up and they would have gone
off if anyone had gone into the area.
- Julie and Kerry feel a breeze coming down the corridor.
There is a cold spot behind Julie that is about 18 inches from the floor.
- Noise heard down the corridor.
10:06pm- Ken calls out.
- Kerry feels that the spirit does not like us.
10:07pm- Ken calls out, 'are you still looking for the fires?'
Kerry asks why Ken has said this as she felt a burning sensation earlier
and both Kerry and Julie heard what sounded like a fire alarm. Ken
replied that during WWII the oldest boys and some teachers would have
to do fire watch here. The headmaster was also the head fireman and
there would have been 10-14 men on watch.
- Julie calls out.
- Ken is very cold down the bottom of the steps.
- Kerry calls out.

- Ken calls out, 'are you on leave from the RAF? Have you come back to
see your friends?'
Noise heard by Ken.
- Ken asks 'were you in the air force in the war?'
Footfall heard down corridor.
- 'Can you do something else?'

Kerry is cold.
- Ken continues to call out.

10:12pm- Julie and Kerry hear footsteps down the corridor.
- Did you die in the war?
Running and loud high-pitched whistle heard.
- Did you die fighting in the war?
- Julie hears running again.
- Were you shot down?
Tap heard behind Julie.
- Julie asks 'is there an American connection?'
All feel cold.
- With Rab's advice Julie calls out a few American aircraft names that
were used during WWII.
No response to all.
- Kerry feels cold.
- Kerry's legs feel cold so she asks if spirits legs were affected before he
died. Rab said that the legs would be the first thing to be affected in a
plane fire.
10:19pm- Kerry calls out.
Kerry sees light changes down the end of the corridor.
- Kerry calls out for James.
Kerry feels something touch her back and then bottom.
- Rab calls out.
Julie's back is cold.
- Julie picks up on Russian connection.
10:23pm- Orb on camcorder.
- Julie and Kerry discuss the colour of the Russian WWII uniform and
think it is a similar colour to the Americans and think that maybe the
link could be Russian instead of American.

Vigil 2:Canteen
10:55pm- No EMF, Temp 24c
- Group start glass divination.
- Kerry calls out.
Rab and Kerry hear a click behind Kerry.
Julie feels something touch her arm.
- Kerry calls out for the spirit to move the glass to where he/she is
standing.
Tap heard on the door behind Rab.
10:57pm- Kerry calls out.
Is the spirit female?
No response.
- Is spirit male?
No response.
All hear raised muffled voices coming from the area off canteen where
the hot drinks vending machine is.
- Ken calls out
Glass twists slightly clockwise.
10:59pm- Glass moves slowly back to the centre of the table.
Kerry can hear walking.
- Kerry calls out.
Rab sees a shadow behind Julie moving towards Paul.
All hear an indistinct noise near double doors behind Julie.
- Kerry calls out.
If there is a spirit in the room please move the glass.

11:01pm- Kerry has pain in her left side.
- Julie calls out.
Glass moves towards Julie.
11:03pm- Please move the glass in the direction you are standing.

Glass makes distinct movement towards Julie.

- All hear a noise which sounds like a chair creaking coming from the
area of the doors to hot drinks vending machines.
11:06pm- Kerry asks for the spirit to communicate through the glass instead of
making noises in the room.
Paul and Ken hear a movement towards far end of the room.
- Kerry asks again that the spirit communicate through the glass.
Glass moves towards Julie, she is the only person with her finger on it.
11:07pm- Rab sees a flash by double doors behind Julie which is followed by the
fire/alarm bell which we heard earlier.
Kerry calls out if that was spirit can you move the glass
Glass moves towards Kerry.
Q: Is there more than 1 spirit with us?
A: Glass moves towards Julie.
Q: Are there 3 spirits?
A: No response.
11:08pm- Taps heard coming from around the table.
Kerry asks that the spirit communicate through the glass.
Glass moves between Julie and Paul towards double doors.

Ken moves to the area and feels very cold.

Kerry calls out.
Ken can hear footsteps and Kerry says that they sound as though
someone is walking behind Ken (2 sets if footsteps).
- Glass moves to Julie.

- Ken moves to the area where the noise came from and calls out.
11:21pm- Kerry feels a dig to her left hand side.
Glass starts to move towards Julie.
- All feel spirit is playing with us.

11:23pm- All hear a show scrape on floor at far end of room.
Orb on camcorder from right to left of Kerry.

Vigil 3: Performance Hall
As we enter the hall a faint whine is heard.
12:20am- No EMF, Temp 24c
12:23am- Ken heads to far end near gantry, Rab stands on the stage, Kerry sits
over door to under stage and Julie is nearby taking pictures.
12:24am- Short whistling sound heard to left of stage by Rab, Julie and Kerry.
12:25am- Kerry has trouble focusing the camcorder on room behind the stage.
- Julie and Kerry hear a groan or a sigh both thought that it was Ken.
- Kerry sees an orb by Julie's feet.
12:27am- Rab hears a footstep.
- Kerry has a headache.
12:28am- Rab feels a cold spot to the left of the stage.
- Julie doesn't like the top of the gantry where the platform is and
Kerry doesn't like the ladder leading to it.
12:31am- Kerry calls out.
- Kerry and Julie hear someone on the gantry.
12:33am- Ken and Rab go up to the gantry.
- Kerry's camcorder battery has drained by 25% in 10 minutes.
- Orb under the stage from the right to the left of the doorway.
- Julie takes photo in same area and also captures an orb.
- Kerry calls out.
12:35am- Julie, Paul and Kerry start séance.
- Kerry calls out
- Julie and Kerry hear a noise, Julie says that it sounds like a marble being rolled across the floor.
- Julie feels something touching her finger.
- Kerry felt same about 10 minutes earlier and demonstrates to Julie the sensation which Julie said is the same feeling she had.
- The palms of Kerry's hands ache.
- Rab and Ken join the séance.
- Kerry calls out.
- Kerry has pins and needles in her left hand.
- Julie feels breeze across her right arm.
- Ken calls out
- Kerry calls out 'please don't just stare at us', Julie agrees that is what it feels like.
- Kerry can sense a man on the stage (middle right) and a young girl near the curtain towards entrance door.
- Kerry says that the man is in either a brown suit or uniform. Ken asks Kerry if it is a corduroy suit, Kerry says no it seems more formal than that.
- Ken has a sharp stabbing pain in his back under his ribcage.
- Kerry calls out.
- Kerry hears light taps.
- Kerry says that the man is quite portly and is in his 50's and his jacket does not do up.
- Kerry calls out.
- All are tired.
- Kerry hears a tap.
- Julie's right leg is hurting.
- Séance ends.
- Kerry can smell wet leather again.
- Julie feels like we are being watched.
- Julie feels someone behind her.
- Chair next to Julie creaks, Rab was sitting in that chair earlier. Ken has also got up but his chair isn't creaking.
- Kerry feels someone put there hand on the top of her right arm near shoulder.
- Rab feels a cold spot to the middle right of stage.
- Rab sees a red naked eye orb moving towards Ken.
- Rab is feeling very frustrated and is starting to get angry.
- All hear a noise in the corridor and Rab goes to investigate (sounds like a cough).
- Rab returns very quickly, he said that as he went out the door and turned the corner he saw a figure standing there and then heard footsteps running.
- Rab calls out.
- Julie sees something to the right of the partition curtains that lead to the room with piano in.
- Rab calls out for a flash of light at which point a large hazy orb is seen on camcorder from top of screen towards Rab's left shoulder.
- Rab calls out for spirit to make a noise.
01:07am- All hear a noise from the corridor. Rab says that it is a similar noise
to that which we heard on entering the hall.
- Julie thought that Ken was sitting in the chair next to her, no-one is
there.
- Rab calls out.
- Ken sees a large orb go across the top of the door area of the stage.
- Rab calls out for the spirit to touch someone in the room.
- Julie keeps thinking that she can see feet on the gantry.
01:08am- Ken has pain again under ribcage.
- Rab calls out.
- Ken is in pain.
01:09am- Rab moves to stage left and feels a cold spot around his back.
- Julie feels cold.
01:13am- Rab calls out 'I'm starting to think that you are not very nice' at
which point an orb appears on camcorder moving towards Ken.
01:14am- Ken's back is stinging as though he has been hit.
- Ken's t-shirt is tucked in. When he pulls the t-shirt out we look at his
back and at the back of his ribs is a large welt like he has been hit
with a stick.
- Kerry relays that the man she saw was giving an important speech on the stage. He looked like a cross between Mosley (he has a distinctive moustache) and Alf from Coronation Street in the 80's. Is about 5ft 10inches tall.

Vigil 4: Library
During this vigil the team took a walk around the library shelving. For some reason Julie and Kerry felt very unsettled. There was a cold spot half way down the far right shelves which was spotted twice about 2ft from the floor. No more activity reported.
01:52am- Ouija starts
- Julie and Kerry both hear a noise behind them that sounds like a
whine or a cat mewling.
- Kerry calls out
- Kerry is cold down left hand side and has a burning sensation on her
Right arm.
01:53am- Kerry calls out.
01:54am- Small movement of planchette.
01:56am- Kerry asks is the same spirits are here that we encountered on the
first floor passages.
- Planchette twitches to the left.
01:57am- Julie writes down names that she is given.
- Q: Are the pilots still here?
- A: No response
- Q: Is someone else here?
- A: No response
- Rab feels cold and has had chest pains for the last couple of minutes.
01:59am- Rab calls out
- Kerry feels cold down her left hand side.
- Rab calls out.
- Rab hears a buzzing noise going towards Ken (could be mozzie)
02:01am- Rab calls out the following, 'If there is are more than one of you here,
we will speak to you all in turn.

- Q: Are there 7 spirits here? (Julie asks)
- Rab is cold
- Planchette moves to T
02:02am- Rab asks for the movement to continue.

- Julie sees a large white shape behind Paul's left hand shoulder.

- Rab says that it is not a serviceman's number but TU is the prefix for Russian services aircraft TUPALOV

- All hear a noise which sounds like a box moving near the office.

Vigil 5: Arts Passage
03:00am- Orb on camcorder from door behind Rab (last door on right) to door
opposite (1st on right on corner of adjacent passage).
Another orb from and to the same direction.
Another orb from door behind Rab to floor.
2 orbs on camcorder right to left of screen (camcorder is pointed towards
Rab.
03:01am- More orbs from door behind Rab.
Two more orbs same direction.
- EMF is constantly going off in the area around Rab but is constant so
could be cables.
03:03am- Ken calls out.
03:04am- Orb on camcorder from the bottom right of door behind Rab.
Ken continues to call out.
Another orb from the middle right of camcorder screen to halfway
across screen then disappears.
- Another orb on screen same direction.
Rab feels something touch his forehead.
- Kerry sees a man in grey walk across the entrance of the passage from
left to the outside doors.

Personal Reports
Kerry Price
With a complete lack of knowledge of the site, I was very much looking forward to this one. I had heard through Ken that this site was well worth investigating and we would be the first people to investigating it. I had no idea what to expect.
I don't know the area it is in at all so when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find a huge building that was like a rabbit warren.
On entering the building I thought how confusing the building would be with the light on let alone in the dark, so I was glad that we would each have a guide in our group.
On the walk around which Ken did there were a couple of things that struck me. On the ground floor there is a single outside door that is in a recess. As the group passed it both I and Matt felt a strong breeze rush out of the area. The door was not open and it seemed very secure. It felt as though the door had blown open.
I felt uncomfortable in the corridor off the right hand side of the library and felt a male presence there. I believe this was also felt by David Ireland.
I also picked up on a soldier near the lockers in one of the 1st floor passages.
It was a good night for an investigation as there was a lunar eclipse that night so I thought that this might help 'stir things up'.
1st Floor passages
This space was very odd indeed. I felt quite frightened in this area and only came to realise that this was the area where I sensed a soldier (whom I thought to be American) later on in the vigil.
The team split up for this one. To be honest I only felt comfortable when we were all together and felt inexplicably scared when there was only Julie and I present.
Many things were picked up on this area. Julie picked up on an American soldier which I thought was odd given what I have said previously. Julie also thought that there was more than one male here and that they were staring at us.
We heard many footsteps, taps and strange dragging noises. We also heard a moan and breathing noises. It felt very uncomfortable in this area and I felt as though in the dark there were actual living and breathing people there but I just couldn't see them. For some reason, although it might seem logical I felt quite apprehensive and literally felt like a newcomer at school. I didn't like the feeling and I remember both Julie and I feeling quite menaced and crowded.
Julie was affected in the back and felt as though someone had poked her. This feeling came and went a couple of times but made Julie feel uncomfortable.
I felt that someone had been burnt from the feeling I was getting. All the team heard what sounded like a fire bell. I thought this was odd as Ken later mentioned that the school was used for fire watch and the headmaster at the time of WWII had been head fire master. Ken could not account for the alarm and could not attribute it to something in the school.
The spirit seemed to react to Ken and Rab very well and just seemed to want to scare the pants off Julie and I!
The strangest thing was that at one point during the vigil I felt something touch the my bottom. It was odd as it was straight out of the blue and I knew that there was no-one behind me. I forgot all about it until we went for a break after the 1st vigil and it was pointed out that I had a hand mark in the same area. I attempted to recreate the mark but could not. The hand was a left hand print on the left hand side of my body and I was sure that no-one else had touched me there. The hand print also appeared to be in chalk!
I found this vigil absolutely fascinating but very unsettling. I felt that I was in the wrong environment a total fish out of water.
Talking to Val the next day I was very interested in a tale that one of the old head masters is heard to march around the corridors!
Canteen
I found this vigil very unsettling.
I didn't like the space where the hot drinks vending machine was and I definitely did not want to be in that space on my own. It didn't scare me I just felt that something unhappy had happened here. As I walked into the area of the vending machines I wanted to hold on to the doorframe, lean into the room and scream at someone. I felt as though I had been crying but with frustration and anger more than fear or sadness.
This vigil came up with a lot of activity. Footsteps were heard again which could not be put down to other teams. There was definite glass movement during questioning and there were plenty of taps and scrapes.
Most of the activity seemed to emanate from the far end of the canteen and sounded a bit like plimsolls on lino as though a child was running around.
I couldn't concentrate properly in this room and felt that someone was standing in the open double doors to the stairs. As I was sitting near this area with my back to it I was constantly turning to see if anyone was there. Whoever it was, it was male.
Performance Hall
As we entered the hall we all heard a noise like whining. It was very short and could have been put down to maybe the curtains moving as we entered. After a while I came to realise that there was nothing in the room which could have made the noise, well only if someone had physically moved something.
This vigil took a while to warm up. We were pretty aware that there was a presence but we couldn't pin point where it was and I didn't think that whoever it was would communicate with us.
For some reason I didn't like the stairs up to the gantry and Julie did not like the gantry/mezzanine level that led from the stairs. It was quite easy to imagine someone looking down at us and this is what we felt.
I didn't like the stage at all; I sat on it with my legs dangling over the open doors to the space under the stage. My imagination could not cope with this and the thought of my legs being pulled was too much and so I moved. Knocks and taps were heard, orbs were picked up and a chair creaked even though it was empty.
What I picked up on most was a man in an ill fitting brown suit. He was in his 50's or so he appeared and reminded me of a cross between Mosley and Alf the shop keeper from Coronation Street of old. I feel that he may have dyed his moustache and there was something unusual about it.
When the vigil had finished and we went for a break, I told Val this. Val then showed me (which I had never seen before) a photograph from a book about the college. She showed me a photo (not the name) of an ex headmaster. I was quite shocked as he matched my description. Ken then showed me a photograph of an orb that he had taken in the performance hall which looked like the profile of the man whom I have just mentioned.
This was a very strange vigil.
Library
I hated this vigil. Logic would tell me that as I work in a library that I would feel fine and comfortable in this space however this is not how I felt.
The corridor off the right hand side of the library was the worst place which I made sure I didn't go near. To me this space led to a place of fear. I don't know what happened around that area but I know that something has or activity has been reported there.
There were very distinct movements in the library and some very strange information was picked up on.
At one point the Ouija was spelling out a series of letters and numbers that Rab, being an RAF man translated as a Russian aircraft number and the make being Tupalov. I have since checked this information. A tupalov is indeed a make of Russain aircraft. The 9 series (TU9) being the most popular with one model nicknamed 'the bear'. I couldn't see how this fit in to a college in Ashford and still don't however it is very interesting that both Julie and I believed that there was a Russian. I couldn't find any history of a crash involving a Russian aircraft however what I did find out was that the aircraft is built for 7 personnel! I don't know why but I still feel somewhere there is a link that I am missing.
As for the reference to 7 that kept popping up during the night... during WWI seven young men left to fight the war, they were all killed in action.
Julie was given the names Frank, Arthur and Bannister. Frank and Arthur were indeed 2 young men that were killed during WW1 and Bannister was a Ms. Bannister a former teacher at the school.
After finishing this vigil we were aware that we would have to cross another team still conducting a vigil and so went around the ground floor passages in a different direction to the staff room for our break. On the way around just after passing the door which I have previously discussed Julie and I could smell sour milk, it was a very strong smell but only Julie and I could smell it.
Val later informed Julie that during WW1 a dairy was bombed that stood next to the school, flooding the school with milk!
Arts Passage
What was it with this place?
Usually the later on in an investigation you get the more relaxed you become. Not me! I had not really noticed anything about these passages on the walk around and had no trepidation about it. However, I was very on edge in this vigil. Julie also appeared to be. We didn't here any knocks or bangs. We did however get a lot of orb activity mostly emanating from the same area. There were high EMF readings, however after checking it was found that there was electrical equipment behind the area where the high readings were and another group had a constant high reading in the same area of the floor so we have to put this down to cabling and the closeness of the electrical equipment.
Julie and I found ourselves constantly looking to the area at the beginning of the passage from where we had entered. At the end of the vigil I saw a distinct male presence which is described in the team notes and Julie saw a black shadow go across the same area at the same time. The man reminded me of an old boss of mine who used to always wear grey and walk with his hands behind his back. I had the feeling that the man wore grey a lot. Could this be the headmaster that is said to still walk the corridors and passageways of the school?
I now have some photocopies from the book on this college, I must say that one figure jumps out at me as being this person, however I cannot be sure. If we ever have the chance to investigate this site again I sure hope that someone else picks up on this spirit so we can confirm a name.
Val's team also kept being given the initials UIG. It didn't seem correct that these could have been someone's initials. The only connection I could find was yet another services related clue. In WWII UIG in Scotland had an air operations base. As most men were out fighting a lot of the work was done by women. As the team had been picking up on female spirit and the initials WVS were spelt out could this be linked to the women's voluntary services in wartime?
What can I say other than well done everyone. A big thank you for permission for this investigation and of course to the staff who agreed to help us out on the night.

Julie Harwood
Even though Ken had told me that the college was big, until we drove up to it, I did not realise that it was that big. It wetted my appetite for a good night as I knew we had a relatively small group and so could easily lose ourselves in the grounds. We were met by Ken's colleagues on arrival and they gave us such a warm welcome and showed us to the staff room that we would use as a team room for the night. To be honest I was a little worried as the place was like a rabbit warren with corridors seemingly leading in every direction. Luckily all teams would have a member of staff with them for this very reason.
When we settled in and all members had arrived Ken and Simon took us on a tour of the building pointing out vigil areas. Even as all of us were wandering round, the building had a very creepy and spooky feeling to it and in most areas we went into at least one member of the group was seen scrabbling for the light switch. The darkness and corridors even seemed to worry some of the "Big brave" men in the group.
After the tour and a quick break teams started their vigils. It was a lunar eclipse that night and so hopes were high for a good investigation and we were not to be disappointed. Team one was made up of Kerry (L&E), Ken (L&E), Paul (L&E), Rab (D&H) and myself (D&H) and so we had a good mixture of personalities and beliefs, however we all got on so well as a team I think this helped.
Our first vigil was on the first floor corridor. Ken, Rab and Paul headed to the top of the main staircase and Kerry and I sat around the corner on the top of the short flight of connecting stairs. From the minute we sat down we felt like we were not alone and even though we could hear the distant noise of the men, we were hearing noises close by us. We felt surrounded and it was an uneasy feeling, which made both of us unusually on edge. We called out and we were replied with knocks and bangs and on one occasion the sound of footsteps coming towards us down the corridor. We also heard an alarm coming from somewhere, but it was not the sound of the motion sensors we have as they would have been a lot louder.
I had a very distinct feeling that there were 7 men around us. I don't know why I thought this but I was very sure about the number. Four at the bottom of the stairs below us and three in the corridor above us. Both Kerry and I also felt a link to servicemen or RAF but again were unsure why we felt this; we seemed to be just pulling stuff of the top of our heads. Kerry could see a light blue uniform which at first we thought was an American connection but then we questioned whether it could have had Russian links. All the time I was sat here I could feel something pushing in my back and we both had the distinct impression of fire. I have to consider that it was possibly the way I was sat as this feeling went when I stood up and returned again when I re seated myself. Kerry could see something at the far end of the corridor and so we decided to explore. There we met with Ken, Rab and Paul and we all went back to the stairs. We decided to call out as a group and keep very still. The responses we got were amazing. First of all we heard whistling (however we found this to be another team - showing again how well sound can travel) however the most intriguing was the marching sound we ALL heard. It sounded like it was marching right towards us. Ken was calling out to anyone that used to work in the building and we were getting more knocks in response to questions like are you male etc? Kerry also felt something touch her lower back / bottom and unbelievably when we returned to the team room another team pointed out the hand print on her back where she felt she had been touched.
A remarkable first vigil.
Our second vigil was in the canteen. I hated this room from the minute I walked in there. I don't know why, I just did. I did not experience a great deal in this area although I know we all could hear what sounded like footsteps coming towards us down the room again. Rab picked up on a female in this area called Laura and Ken and Kerry picked up on a male. The only other thing I did hear was a woman moaning/whining and both Kerry and I heard that. This room was just making me angry so for most of the vigil I kept very quiet and was fairly subdued. We tried glass divination and the glass kept coming to mine and Rab's side of the table but very little if anything was established. I was only too glad to leave this vigil.
Our third vigil was in the Performance Hall and again this area made me feel a bit agitated. Although I did not feel as bad as I had in the canteen I definitely got the feeling of wanting to shut off from the men in the team. It was nothing personal to Ken, Rab or Paul, but for some reason I just felt they should not have been there. I also got the distinct impression someone was watching us from the balcony area and so Ken and Rab decided to go and have a look up there but felt fine. When we all re grouped we all heard a loud unmistakable cough from the corridor outside. Knowing no teams were anywhere near us Rab went to investigate and there was no one there however he did hear footsteps running away from him but there was clearly no one there. It was like someone was trying to get our attention but did not want to stick around. Ken was in quite a lot of discomfort at this point and was reporting a burning feeling on his back. This carried on for sometime and when we left the vigil we were surprised to see red patches on his lower back with some scratches too. Our fourth vigil was in the library and by now my strange mood had lifted somewhat and I was feeling more normal again. We attempted Ouija in this area and kept getting the number 7. It was at this point that I took my hand off the planchette as I had a few names come into my head and I wanted desperately to write them down while I remembered them. The names were Frank or Frankie, Arthur and Lance. I also wrote down Banning or Bannister. We closed down the Ouija and decided to have a wander around the library. Rab felt drawn to the end of the room and so we decided to all go and investigate. It was icy cold in this area even though it was quite warm in the rest of the room and it did make us all feel a bit apprehensive however in my opinion, while I can not explain the temperature difference, the apprehension I believe was caused by the fact that this area was the darkest part of the whole room. At the end of the vigil we took a different route back to the team room to avoid disturbing another team and while we walked along I could smell very strongly sour milk. It was potent and unmistakable which is why it surprised me that only Kerry could smell it as well and not Ken, Rab or Paul. I remember commenting to Kerry that it smelt like someone had spilt a lot of milk and not cleaned it up. I can not stress how strongly I could smell this.
Our final vigil was in the arts corridor. This area was spooky enough with out all the extra hanging art pieces and so I did feel a bit on edge. Kerry and I sat on one of the benches and were constantly looking up the corridor from where we had just come from. We felt like someone else was there, almost like we had been followed and we were just waiting to see by whom. Rab and Paul sat on the floor and were getting very strong emf fluctuations from the floor (which we believe could have been under floor cables) but also from the door Rab was sat next to which is a bit harder to explain. Kerry also caught a lot of orbs on camcorder shooting between Rab and the door. Nearing the end of the vigil both Kerry and I saw a dark shape move across the hall where we had been staring and this startled us a bit but we could find no explanation as to what it was.
We had had a long night and so decided to return to the team room and get ready to leave. After thanking our guests we Rab, David and myself headed back to Ken and Val's for a much appreciated cup of tea and it was then that Val had a chance to look through some of the research she had done. Searching for this college on the internet only brought up the college website and no history or archives and so Val had sat for hours the previous week in the college archives collecting the records of the school.
She was able to confirm a Ms Bannister who was a teacher of French at the school and more to my delight (though it was a sad story) the records of 7 servicemen who left the college to fight in the 1914-18 war and never returned. Two of the names being Arthur and Frank. I was amazed at this and have no idea where the information I had got had come from. I could however kick myself for not writing more of the names I was thinking about in the library down, but thought it would look silly me writing lots of names! I learnt my lesson there.
Another thing that shocked me was during the Second World War a dairy which used to stand next to the college was bombed and milk apparently flooded the school. Could this have been linked to the sour milk I could smell in one of the downstairs corridors?? Also an old head teacher is said to march the upper corridors. Again could this have been the marching sound all of our group heard on our first vigil??
An absolutely fascinating investigation for me. I am still unsure of what to make of it and would be back there in a shot if they would allow us to as I believe that building holds many, many more secrets! Thank you to Ken and Val for securing us this investigation and also for inviting me to attend, it is certainly a night I will never forget!

I was hoping that this investigation was going to be a good one, as I have walked past this college everyday since 1956. After meeting and greeting we all made our way around the areas to be investigated and with all baseline tests done split into our individual groups. My group was number 3 with Matt, Dan, Ross, Simon and I.
1st vigil: The performance hall
This was a large hall with a stage at one end, long heavy curtains at the sides and rear, and very, very dark. We decided to hold a glass divination here, I started calling out, but nothing was seen or heard. Then Matt sat on the floor and had the feeling that there was a child close by. Ross and Simon went upstairs to the balcony while I sang a line from all things bright and beautiful. We felt that someone was lingering behind the curtains to the side of the hall. The men went into the hole that led under the stage but nothing strange at all. I felt a cold draught near me. Matt called out and 2 knocks were heard.
Vigil 2 Library
Here we started with the Ouija board and soon made contact with a male. He was a French teacher and when asked for a name and he gave TH. Then of a sudden something tapped on my thigh 3-4 times and I was shivering. Asking for more letters to a name we had E and A M T who wanted to talk to Matt, Matt said that Thea his friend was killed in car accident and asked for his sitter's name to which the planchette spelt Megan. When asked if he moved chairs in the library the spirit answered yes. Again we asked if he was a teacher and it replied yes. Just then I heard a grown and Simon felt a breeze and went very cold. Between Ross and myself I had the feeling that someone was standing there I was cold and Ross and myself felt a cold breeze between us. Asked if there was more than one spirit with us and we had the answer seven not a number 7 but the word seven. It wasn't until I got home and looked up references in my book that a headmaster by the name of T H Adams OBE was a teacher of French. in his initials it could be THEA? I didn't like this library or the corridor that ran of it and I think we were all pleased to leave the area.
Vigil 3 Arts Passage.
This area was in parts horrible and yet I never felt fear here in one part the EMF meter started to have high readings and Simon said behind a door was electrical equipment so this must have been the reason, but to our amazement we had an incredible reading of 10 on a solid concrete floor in the middle of the passage After calling out we saw and heard nothing.
Vigil 4 Upstairs Passage.
I didn't like these passages at all we had walked through them and then made our way to the stairs. We all sat down and I called out. 3 taps were heard. As we walked again we heard the sound of water and another tap.
We walked along toward the caretaker's room, Simon and Matt going ahead when all of a sudden the motion sensors went of. I have never seen anyone move and climb stairs so quickly as Simon and Matt did. They didn't realize the sensors were there and had walked through the beam.
Vigil 5 Canteen
We set up the Ouija board in the canteen and took our turns to ask questions, but we didn't have any response at all. I felt quite at ease in here and only wished something would happen but it didn't.
I caught nothing at all on the camcorder but feel sure I have on digital.
This investigation I feel had a lot of spirits around but it was a night of the lunar eclipse which I think influenced them to stay out of sight for the night.
Thank you Dan for all the notes you took down brilliant stuff. Thank you Simon for being my guide you did well for your 1st investigation and thank you Ross and Matt for keeping me calm.

Another week, another wonderful location. The College is nestled in the midst of a busy high street and stands out with its Victorian architecture. We (me Di and Dan) arrived at around 8.30pm and were very soon accompanying the others on a guided tour of the building led by Ken. I knew that I would still forget where I was going (anyone who knows me knows about my shocking memory), so I was very glad to learn that we would have our very own "tour guides" on our team in the shape of college worker, Stein, and his mum, Sharon. My team was team 2 which consisted of me, David, Di, Stein and Sharon. We started our vigil in the canteen. As always, we decided to take photos and just soak up the atmosphere. David immediately sensed that there was somebody in the far left corridor and loud taps could be heard in the canteen. I was filming and after a loud tap was heard by one of the computers, I aimed the video camera in that direction just in time to catch a couple of orbs going across the computer screen. It was then decided that we should try a glass divination. Unfortunately the movement was very weak. However David ascertained that we were speaking to a little girl called Annabel and she seemed to gravitate more towards Sharon. She was around 5 years old and that the spirit in the corridor was her uncle and he treated her badly. As seems to be usual in these cases, when there is a nasty spirit who has been particularly nasty to women and children in their lifetime, once dead, they always prove to be cowards when confronted by the living! For some reason the name Ernest popped into my head. This could also have been the word, "earnest", I am not sure. There were a few more taps but nothing more and this man spirit was really reluctant to communicate. As the little girl had now stopped we decided to go to the corridor and meet the spirit head on. Unfortunately this was to no avail and the vigil ended quietly. This was the most we had all night and subsequent vigils proved to be very quiet, apart from a few taps in the arts corridor. I was starting to feel unwell on this vigil with a really bad stomach ache and feeling sick. I was hoping I could carry on but I had to cut the last vigil short when I started to feel faint. I would like to thank my team for their support at this time as they refused to carry on without me. I felt so ill that even the thought of walking back in the dark alone did not bother me! My apologies to Stein and Sharon for having to finish early. They were very nice people and very helpful, and I hope to meet them again some tine. Thank you also to Ken for securing us such a lovely location. Apologies also to Di and Dan for not being good company on the way home. I had taken a couple of travel sick pills and they knocked me out!!

From the entrance in the car park, the large size of the college could not really be estimated. Once inside, the duplicated corridors on the ground floor reminded me of an old hospital, I did nearly get lost on the way back from the toilet, but ended up re-entering the hub (a centrally based staffroom), unintentionally via another door.
Performance Hall
After a quick re-shuffling of teams, team 3 lead by Val made their way to the Performance Hall. We started off sat around a table conducting a séance. Occasionally it felt as if the temperature changed, but after using the temperature gun, little variation was recorded. Matt, Ross and Simon investigated the far end of the room and actually climbed up onto the balcony (?) - An area (presumably) where the technicians would light college plays (etc.) Matt and one other - I forget who - investigated underneath the stage also. The darkness of the room seemed to change at one point, getting lighter but apart from that I felt and witnessed nothing.
The Library
Here we conducted a Séance and a Ouija board. During the Ouija board session, Matt was in contact with someone that he knew (please see notes). After a while, the Ouija board seemed to spell out more random things, it also kept moving to the `Oui` of Ouija - we took this as being French (perhaps) for Yes, or was the spirit in contact just messing around with us? I felt the library was the creepiest place, but didn't personally actually witness anything, however I wrote absolutely loads.
Arts' Passage
This area was slightly creepy due to the unusual hanging art sculptures. Also the EMF readings at one point were `off the scale`, we later found out that this was probably due to the electrical wires running underneath the floor. We entered some of the classrooms, which again had a strange appearance due to the partially finished art sculptures and use of fake walls to cordon off certain areas. Also the temperature in these rooms tended to be quite cold giving it a dank feel. I didn't experience anything in this area.
1st floor passages
It was from here that you could peer down into a small paved area (adjacent to the hub), see the caretaker's quarters and see opposite - some more corridors. The first floor corridors were linked in a rectangular shape and varied in their level of darkness. We wandered around them listening for noises - there were some, but Simon said they were probably the pipes. Suddenly an alarm went off, to be honest I did not know what it was (it was a sensor, but I'd never heard one activated before) and saw Ross, Matt and Simon come belting around the corner, then I too started to run but didn't actually know why. After the initial fright, we ventured to the source of the noise and Simon admitted that he had probably broken the beam.
The Canteen
Our last vigil took place in the eating area. Again Val conducted a Ouija board and this time it appeared to be really random. The answers didn't make much sense although the letters: UIG were spelled out twice! There were a few creaks in this room but apart from that, nothing else.
This college was a creaky, dark and in places, a cold building. Although I didn't actually witness anything, I liked the experience of taking part in a Ouija board and with Matt receiving some connection, and the letters UIG coming up twice I could see how this tool works and would like to give it another go.
