Introduction
The Barons Cave is part of Reigate Castle, which was probably built by the second earl of Surrey, William de Warrenne, soon after 1088.
During the time of Oliver Cromwell, the castle was briefly garrisoned by followers of a Royalist uprising in 1648, and then by parliamentary troops after the insurrection had been put down. There was no fighting at the castle; it was just a convenient camp for the troops. None of the original building has survived, with the exception of The Baron’s Cave.
Nobody knows how old The Baron’s cave is. The oldest reference to it dates from 1586. Nobody is really sure why the cave was dug. It has been made with great care-this can be seen in the way that the roof is so uniform and smooth. Where sand diggers have been at work, the walls are much rougher.
The cave is in three sections. There is a passage which runs straight through from the centre of the castle mound to the bottom of the dry moat. At the top end this is lined with Reigate stone, and it emerges via a chamber roofed with brick vaulting, into the centre of the castle grounds, under a stone pyramid. Near the bottom entrance, a short flight of steps drops down to a long and tall curving passage, which ends suddenly in a solid wall. A curious stone bench has been built around the base at this point.
All team members would like to thank Andy for allowing us to investigate these beautiful caves, and a heartfelt thanks to Heather, Gerry and Una for staying the whole night with us. Also Beau who behaved so well. I don’t think he felt the cold.

Team 1 Vigil 1 Pyramid Passage
The earliest date we could find for this passage leading up to the pyramid was 1586. Temperature reading was 6.5 at the highest point of the pyramid and 4.8 at the bottom of the stairs leading to the way out.
EMF meter gave a reading as 0 all through the vigil. We all sat at the top of the stairs to the pyramid. Val started to call out to give us a sign, but no response. Asked again to come forward, no reply. Steen whistles and asks spirit to copy him, no reply. Val asked many questions can you tap, did you work here, can you blow the candle out touch one of us, but all questions gave no reply. Val, Louise and Laura feel very calm here. Group move down the stairs to the wider part of the passage. Val feels very apprehensive here. Temperature down the steps is reading 6.8 and 6.7 toward the ceiling.
Group sit on the lower steps to passage
Val calls out to spirit to make a sound asks for spirit to copy her humming, no response. Val picks up on a boy named Jim aged about 17/18, he has three quarter length baggy trousers and cloth type shoes, height about 5 feet four, Val sees him scratching his head. Val continues to call out nothing heard. Val is given the name JIM ADAMS and Laura picks up on the same boy with a limp. All feel ok here.

This we cannot distinguish whether the plancette moved to B or was pointing down the steps that led to the way out. The planchette then moved to the letters U C A S.
We decided to close this vigil.
Vigil 2 Dinosaur Cave
Temperature all around 10.1 EMF reading 0Louise starts breathing very deeply and Laura feels a bit disillusioned. Val feels sick like butterflies in her stomach. Steen is feeling fine. Laura feels like there are a lot of people in here with us and a lot of talking going on. Val and Louise have sand throne in there hair and arms. Val calls out, no response. Louise and Val start to feel warmer in here. Val starts to feel hot and thinks someone is standing in front of her. Laura says someone important is with us and Lou says he is a tall male spirit. Val feels overpowered. Val throws sand and asks for spirit to copy no response. Lou calls out, then Steen, no response. The group hold hands in a circle to conduct a séance. Val feels as though there rats around us. Laura sees something white peering round the corner, we all feel as if there are a lot of people in here with us, something tickles Laura’s ear.
Vigil 3 Wine Cave
We all walked to the far end of the cave and stood in silence for a short while, Laura picked up the ancient bolder and threw it to the ground, and Steen saw a red light anomaly. Laura feels very awake and alert. Lou started to act strangely she feels very happy said she could run upside down. She feels like we are having a meeting and we HAVE to listen to what she says. All group hear a noise and Steen says someone is watching us. Lou still behaving oddly, she speaks very posh and is in command. She is very strange. Steen and Lou hear women talking, while Lou feels like public speaking. Val sees something pass straight in front of her with naked eye. Steen can smell mushrooms. Val has a tickle on back of her neck followed by the back of her leg. Footsteps are heard by all. Male presence felt by Laura and Steen. Lou throws a rock and asks for it back no response. Steen Val and Louise have the name of Richard, Val says Richard Charles who has a velvet hat with a large feather, a moustache and the name of Thomas. Val sees Louise dancing all through the caves on way out saying RICHARDDDDDDDDD.
Vigil 4 Main Passage
We sat on the steps half way along the passage Louise, Steen and Laura feel very calm here while Val feels like it is a church atmosphere. Val is given the name of Francis De La Mare, and the same time Laura has the name of Francis Drake. Val calls out to spirit then Louise calls out, no response. Steen feels like lying down to relax and sleep although he is wide awake not tired at all. Val has the feeling that soldiers are here wearing darkish brown trousers with tied bottoms, something like cycle clips, then feels as though someone is sitting next to her. Steen feels like it’s a monastery with monks. All feel nothing sinister in the caves quite a good feeling everywhere. Val throws a stone and asks for it back but no response.
Team 2
Vigil 1 Dinosaur Cave
Temperature 12.-12.5 at dinosaur and 11.5-11.8 left and right walls. EMF 0 throughout. Team split up to walk around the cave in view of each other. All felt good and calm in here. Jim saw a light anomaly around the dinosaur as Simon moved away. All joined hands in a circle Jim felt like he was being pushed, so moved round then Richard felt the same. Group moved closer to the dinosaur at the end of the cave. Emma called out, then felt like a cobweb was in her face, this was checked nothing found. Continuing on Jim said he saw a shadow behind Emma and Simon, Emma said her left hand felt cold, Jim asked for spirit to push him or make a noise, it looked like Jim was about to pass out, he would have gone down if Simon had let go of him. The temperature had dropped at this moment, all noticed this. Jim said he felt the presence of a man with a gruff voice and maybe a limp. Jim and Richard were hit with a cold blast. Jim noticed Emma was moving although she didn’t realize it. Again Emma felt cobwebs on her face and also felt like someone was rubbing her neck which was nice. Jim asked Emma if she could stand on her own as it seemed that it was a man. Jim asked the spirit if he could push Emma to confirm that it was a man and yes Emma was pushed.
Vigil 2 Pyramid Passage
Temperature at top of stairs 14.1 halfway down 11.8 EMF 0
All groups feel ok here. Halfway down the stairs Jim is drawn to the end and has an angry thought go through his mind, Jim calls to spirit no response. Jim sees a lady dressed all regally being led down the tunnel has a feeling of love interest. Jim again calls out and all hear a whistle, possibly from another team although we say it came from where we were. Jim is seeing visions. Team all stand in a circle and Jim calls out, Emma is doubled with stomach pains and feels it’s related to childbirth/pregnancy. Jim gets told that they are no better now than they used to be in relation to youngest gathering outside.
Vigil 3 Main Passage
Temperature 11.4-11.7 EMF0
As soon as we started Emma’s camera stopped working. Group tried the Ouija board but nothing came through. Simon and Jim both feel as though they are being watched and all four of us feel a cold breeze around us. On two occasions Simon felt something run/scuttle just pass him and stay on his right side. Jim says something has just walked pass Simon toward the exit doors. Emma again feeling bad stomach pains definitely pregnancy having a baby. Jim felt it was connected to the lady he saw on the steps previously Emma was on the steps at the time.
Vigil 4 Wine Cellar Cave
Temperature 10.0 EMF 0
All group feeling cold, we formed a circle and Jim called to spirit with no reply. Emma calls out no reply Emma said she could smell flowers, Jim said he could not smell flowers but the air seemed fresh as though they were outside not in a deep cave. Emma threw a stone and asked for spirit to throw it back, nothing happened. Then Jim heard something at the front of the cave like someone was walking. Team continue to call out with no responses. Temperature was checked and had risen to 11.0 All the team felt ok no other occurrence.

Vigil 1 Main Passage
Temperature 6.0 EMF 0
From the far end of the passage looking back it seemed a lot brighter, Ken calls to spirit nothing heard. Temperature and EMF have same readings. Mandy heard a tap three times. Ken called out and again three taps came from the hub area, temperature check now reading 6.9 Mandy asked for more taps, nothing heard. Ken has the name of Richard come to him. Mandy asked spirit to knock no response. Gary is getting a headache. Mandy feels male presence, quite tall male Ken sees a guard of some sort. Mandy tried dowsing rods and there was slight movement on left rod. Mandy calls out and a movement of the right rod moving inwards. Ken and Mandy feel overwhelming presence. Mandy says someone is next to her. The temperature stays the same but Gary is very cold now.
Vigil 2 Wine Cellar Cave
Temperature 6.9 EMF 0
Mandy feels someone is behind her and as team walks she feels as though someone is following her. Gary and Ken feel fine. Mandy senses that spirit does not like women. Ken feels very cold and yet he is sweating. Gary heard 2 taps. Mandy feels as though her chest is tight Ken is feeling the same. Mandy says she feels as though she cannot be left alone in here. Gary sat at far end on the ledge a few minutes pass and then he feels like someone has sat next to him. A groan is heard by Ken and Gary. Ken smells something like tar/ oil lamp smell. Mandy hears water dripping from far end of tunnel but there is no water. Ken goes alone to far end of cave and feels fine, after a few minutes he starts to have pain in the back of his neck and smell oil lamps again. Gary goes there alone the light on his watch switches on by itself and he hears a noise from opposite side to him. Mandy decides to go alone her chest feels tight but she does not feel as scared. Gary and Ken suddenly get really cold that disappeared in about a minute.
Vigil 3 Dinosaur Cave
Temperature 6.9 EMF 0
Ken Gary and Mandy all feel ok at the start; the camera is not picking up on anything. Ken is feeling very chesty, Mandy calls out, and no response Ken called out, nothing heard. Ken has a headache suddenly although Gary is now fine. Ken uses the rods and asks question to spirit no occurrences. Gary calls to spirit and we all heard a tapping noise coming from the stairs. Ken calls out to see if there are any workman or perhaps soldiers here, no activity. Mandy called out and Gary has the image of a single white rose, Ken called out to see if he could find answers to the rose, then said he feels a mask has just come into his head, a face mask, at the same time Gary felt that he had something come down his nose then out across his face. Mandy felt a chill across her shoulders and down her spine. Ken and Mandy call out for spirit to make a shuffling sound in the sand but no activity. Kens chest is getting worse. No other occurrences in here
Vigil 4 Pyramid Passage
Temperature 6.9 EMF 0
Team hold Ouija séance with Gary asking questions no response at all. Mandy does the same again no response. Mandy tries the rods but no occurrence. All held hands for séance but again nothing came through. Gary and Mandy start to feel uncomfortable and Ken still has headache. Moved to a different area and tried the Ouija again but all was very quiet.
Personal Reports
Val Butler
My first impression of the Barons Cave was how quiet and eerie it was and my fear of being underground was getting the better of me. But once the vigils started I began to relax, more and more intrigued at the dates and carvings on the walls.
Pyramid Passage
Sitting on the steps leading up to the pinnacle of the pyramid I felt quite at ease on looking upwards, but looking back into the passage way down I became anxious. I called to spirit several times with no reply. I had a boy aged 17/18 name Jim come to mind dressed in three quarter length trousers, cloth type shoes, height about five foot four inches and I could see him scratching his head. Again I called to Jim with no answer. Then I had the name of Jim Adams. I tried the Ouija séance and heard footsteps coming from the far end of the passage towards the steps. No other occurrences here.
Dinosaur Cave
I did not like it at all in this area and found it very hard to go near to the dinosaur at the far end. I started to feel sick. I sat to the side and then felt sand being thrown at me down my neck, I was cold and called out to spirit, I felt that someone was standing next to me, then realized how warm I was and getting hotter. I threw some sand and asked for spirit to copy me no response came. I had visions of rats around my legs and feet. The group held hands to hold a séance nothing came through I felt as though there were many people walking around us.
Wine Cellar Cave
I did not like walking through this cave, as there was a bend half way down it I could not see what was round the corner to the dead end. Once at the end I sat on a solid bench and felt a tickle go across my neck and then on the back of my right leg. I saw some sought of a shadow pass straight in front of me with the naked eye, what this was I cannot say. The name of Richard Charles Thomas came to mind he was wearing a velvet hat with a large plumed feather to the side and also had a large moustache.
Main Passage
I felt very calm and serine in this area as though I was in a church. The name of Francis De La Mare came to mind. I called to spirit to come forward and felt a presence sitting on the sandy steps with me. I could see soldiers walking up towards me with darkish brown trousers on and what looked like cycle clips at the bottom of the legs, they seemed to be quite happy just passing by not hurrying at all. Then I threw a small stone and asked for its return to no avail. I felt nothing at all sinister in this part of The Barons Cave. The entire group thought it had a good feeling to it.
Jim Arnold
The Dinosaur Cave
Once the readings were done I suggested we form a circle.
I called for any spirit to touch us, or make a noise. After a few minutes of calling out I started to feel that I was being pushed in the chest making me move backwards. This happened a few times, and I asked the team to move the circle a little. I then saw a shadow pass behind Emma, and Simon, I asked if anyone else had seen it, but no one did.
Emma told me she felt that someone was touching her neck in a very nice way.
I then started calling out again, and was again pushed backwards, this time it was harder and would have gone down if it had not been for Simon holding me tight.
Richard and I suddenly went very cold as if a cold blast hit us.
I asked if everybody was feeling OK, we all were except for Emma who said she was still being touched.
I asked Emma as she was the one being touched if she would mind standing her on her own. She said she was happy to try this as she felt there was no harm.
I then called out to see if we would get a response.
Q, are you a male? Emma was pushed forward

Q, are you happy here? Emma was pulled backwards. The team and I took this as no. Yes for being pushed forward, and pulled backwards for No.

We stopped at this point because of the time, but Emma told once back at the hub, that she was still being touched. We moved to one side and I asked the spirit to leave her. Which for a moment it did, however at the start of the next vigil it started again, again I asked him to leave her, this time he did I’m not sure if it was me or something else that made him go, I asked Emma if she was OK, and she said she was fine.
The Pyramid
We checked the readings and got nothing here. I stood on the stairs and saw a lady pass me she was dressed in what I would call regal clothes. I felt that this would have been a meeting place for this lady, and that she was on her way to meet her lover.
Emma told us she could hear a noise like someone scratching, we all stopped and listened and then I also heard it.
We formed a circle on the stairs and Emma and I called out, we heard more scratching and the sound of someone moving, I didn’t get any more response after this.
At the bottom of the stairs I was drawn to one side. Here I felt that there were people, soldiers sitting against the wall waiting to die, the feeling of death. Then I felt that children were running past and along the passage.
Main Passage
We started with an Ouija board. I called out several times, and asked Emma to try, but we had no response.
I asked the team to form a circle, again I called out, I heard nothing, but this time felt that we were being watched from both sides.
I asked the team to spread out along the passage, and I called out again, after several attempts I heard a noise coming from towards the door, Simon told me that he felt that someone had just passed in front of him.
Along with the others I called out, but all I had was the continuous feeling of being watched, and that people were making their way back and forth along the passage.
The Wine Cellar
We formed a circle and I called out to spirit, I had no response.
I moved around the cellar in hope, as I did I felt quite happy to be there, and believed that I could have stayed there on own quite peacefully.
I asked the team to try another circle, but again got nothing.
This place did feel different to me than the other vigils; I felt more at peace here, quite happy in fact.
Ken Taylor
Main Passage
The area near the entrance seemed brighter than before, I called out to spirit nothing heard. I called out again and three taps were heard near to the hub at the entrance to the caves. I had the name of Richard come to mind and the feeling that a guard of some sort was present and quite overpowering. No other occurrences in here.
Wine Cellar Cave
As I entered this cave it gave me the impression of “what’s around the corner” it had a curve half way down and you could not see the end. After a while I began to feel really cold although I was sweating. I did not feel anything sinister at all in here. I felt as though my chest was getting tight, Mandy also had the feeling. I then heard a groan but from where I do not know as sound seems to echo. I could smell something I can only describe like tar or maybe oil lamp burning. I went alone to the far end of the cave. At the time of going I felt fine but on reaching the far end began to have pains in the back of my neck, and again the smell of oil lamps. Again I felt extremely cold.
Dinosaur Cave
I felt ok at the start of this vigil, but after a short while began to get very chesty. I called out to spirit to come forward but no response to it. I began to get a headache. I used the diving rods and again called to spirit and the rods divided outwards. I again called out as I had the feeling of workman or soldiers present but no activity. I had the feeling of a mask come into my head. My chest seemed to get worse as time went by. Nothing else happened for me in here.
Pyramid Cave
The team tried an Ouija séance but nothing came through to us. We all held hands and stood in a circle and I called out but again there was nothing coming through. I went up the stairs to the top of the pyramid and had a sudden headache. I felt quite comfortable in this area. We moved to a different part of the cave and tried the Ouija again but sadly nothing came through to us.
This was a great place to investigate very different from previous investigations, a place of tranquility yet a place of mystery. I would like to return one day and see what is hiding there would communicate with us further. Thank you to Andy and to our guides for the evening.
Gary Hayes
Main Passage
Whilst standing in the Passageway, I felt a distinct drop in temperature although the Infra-Red temperature gun did not show this.. This happened on two separate occasions. The second time was also felt by Ken.
When we moved into the Hub area, which is located at the end of the passageway, I had a slight headache. I was holding the camcorder and at the time, I put this down to the light from the Camcorder I was holding, however when I moved further down the passage later, it disappeared.
Although I felt the temperature drops and had a headache that disappeared when I moved further down the passage, I experienced nothing else.
Wine Cellar Cave
Interesting room which affected each member of the group differently. When entering the room, I felt fine and had no apprehension, although I couldn’t say this for Mandy who was afraid of the room. As we approached the end of the room, there is a seat carved into the cave side, which I decided to sit on. Whilst sat there, I had a sense that someone was sat next to me, on my right side. After a short time, the feeling went. After this, we decided to sit by ourselves, one after each other at the back of the room with the other members further down. When it was my turn, I was interested to see if I felt the presence again. After sitting down for a short time, I called out for something to happen. It was then that I noticed my watch, which when you push a button on the side lights up the face, flicker on and off for about 10 seconds. There was no possible way this could happen by itself and my arm, which had the watch on, was away from my body and away from anything that could knock it on. Although this was quite shocking, I felt extremely calm but excited. I called out again and heard shuffling noises from opposite me. After this, I didn’t’ hear or see nothing else and I still felt fine throughout my time in this room.
Dinosaur Cave
When entering this room, I felt fine and quite happy. Whilst in this room, I kept seeing an image of a white rose in my head but could not work out why. One of the most interesting things that did happen when in this room was Ken said he felt he was seeing a vision of a helmet/mask, I felt a pressing on my nose and across my face, like I was wearing a helmet/mask.
It was towards the end that I felt very tired and miserable however at the time I put this down to it being late and cold. However as soon as we headed back to the Hub, I felt fine.
Pyramid Cave
We tried the Ouija board in here twice but nothing happened. I didn’t’ have any experiences/feeling whilst in this area.
Louise Williams
Pyramid Cave
At the start I felt very calm and relaxed. During our vigil I picked up on a young boy probably a teenager who had really old dirty clothes on that were all torn and too small. He had blonde short hair and a pale complexion. I could not get a name for him. He seemed very nervous and shy I got the impression he was always rushing and trying to do everything faster. I thought he worked here as a sweeper and a bit of a runner between other people doing all the odd jobs and the ones that know one else wanted to do. When I was watching the Ouija board I kept getting the image of a boy with a mask over his face and he kept wanting to touch my neck and the word gas kept coming in to my thoughts. I think I was picking up on a boy who was breathing in gas down there and eventually died as he was crouching over coughing and gasping for air. I felt he was trapped and couldn’t get out. It was not the same boy as experienced earlier I could only pick up on the colour of his hair which was mousy brown.
Dinosaur Cave
I felt much overpowered in here and felt I was being watched. When I took part in the séance I was getting a message to ask everyone to get closer to each other and make the circle very small and tight. I picked up on a lot of male presence in here and felt they were in a much larger circle around us.
Wine Cellar Cave
When I entered this space I felt very happy tall proud and thriving with confidence. I wanted to be high and watch people gather round me to hear what I had to say. I was very excited about what I was to tell them. I felt like a public speaker. I imagined them cheering me a lot of shouting and happiness. I picked up on the name Richard. I was saying it over and over in my heard sounding out the word and over emphasizing how it was pronounced “RICH... ...ARD “
Main Passage
In this area I didn’t experience anything.
Simon Patterson
Dinosaur Cave
I did not like this area of the caves, everything looked horrible here. After a few minutes I started to relax and then I felt quite at ease. There was nothing nasty in here and I did not experience anything unusual.
Pyramid Cave
This part of the caves seemed darker to me, and I also felt much closed in, but once I has sat down on the steps I began to feel more comfortable.
I was so comfortable I could sit here for the whole of the vigil.
Main Passage
I took part in the Ouija board séance, but after a while nothing had happened, so the group split up and went into four directions. Whilst standing in my space I heard what sounded like scrapping/scuttling on my right side, I stood motionless and then it happened again, but it felt as though it was going all the way around me. Toward the end of the vigil I also heard a ticking sound like a clock coming from the inside of the wall. This was a very good vigil.
Wine Cellar Cave
This was the final vigil and I found it to be very scary, as I entered the cave I could not see the end as it bends in the middle as if going off somewhere else. Overall I felt that there was nothing sinister in here at all and felt quite at ease throughout the vigil.
I enjoyed the whole night; I thought the caves were very good.
Looking forward to our next investigation now.
Emma MacDonald
Dinosaur Cave
I felt calm on entry to this area and felt I had to name the dinosaur before we started and called him Rex, we stood in a circle and after calling out I felt what was like a cobweb on the right side of my face but after looking with the torches there was nothing there to have caused it. That happened several times throughout the vigil. After a while I stood on my own by the dinosaur as it seemed that whoever it was seemed to like a lady present. I stood with my back to the dinosaur and felt what was like someone massaging and rubbing the back of my neck, it felt very calming and relaxing. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and when Jim was calling out I was being pushed and pulled gently in response to the questions asked. I got the impression that he wanted me there and he liked me there. After the vigil we went back to the hub and while sitting on the bench I felt the stroking on the back on my neck again and had to rely on Jim to get the spirit to leave me alone. He eventually left me after we walked the staircase to the next vigil. As it didn’t happen to anyone else I wonder if I reminded him of someone he once knew.
Overall I felt very calm and relaxed in the situation and had a great experience. I have never felt so much in a vigil before.
Pyramid Cave
Again this place was calm and relaxing, I had this feeling throughout all the areas of the cave. It seemed a happy place.
After calling out in a circle I felt an agonizing pain in my lower abdomen, which had me doubled over. It was a familiar feeling and I think it was pregnancy/childbirth related. The pain went after we broke the circle but I can’t help thinking it had something to do with the gent who I encountered in the dinosaur area. I did feel like they were connected and maybe that’s why I experienced the pain.
Along with the team we heard a ticking sound next to us and I thought it was one of the groups watch but no one had a ticking watch on investigation. We all then heard a shuffling sound by the wall several times and it sounded like someone was dragging his or her feet in the sand. We couldn’t find any explanation for this.
Main Passage
We did a Ouija here with no responses but I did keep feeling a breeze like someone was walking past us, I heard some shuffling while we were all stood still and towards the end of the vigil I had a nauseous feeling which lasted about 5 minutes.
Wine Cellar Cave
Again it was very quite and calming in here, I felt like I could have curled up and gone to sleep in here it was so quite and calm. After calling out there were no responses and it was quiet throughout the vigil.
Overall this was a fantastic place; I really enjoyed the experience and would love to go back in the future to investigate further. Thanks to the hosts who accompanied us through the evening.

Main Passage
I called out and heard a couple of knocks coming from the meeting area, then after calling out again I heard a tap, then it went quiet.
I got the dowsing Rods out and asked if there was a spirit being to move the rods, which they did, but didn’t move them again when I tried to confirm that there was a spirit presence.
I sensed that there was a tall man, and felt that he was overpowering and towering over me, towards the end I felt a bit uncomfortable, then soon after it went all quite.
Wine Cellar Cave
As soon as I arrived in this area I felt instantly uncomfortable, I felt like it when I was taking the EMF readings. I thought I was being followed but Ken and Gary were no where near me.
I felt like I couldn’t be left on my own in any area of the Cellar but particularly at the end by the seat.
I called out and my chest became very tight and I felt a shiver down my spine and across my shoulders, we all took turns in going down the end by ourselves when it was my turn I felt cold and started shaking I then became uncomfortable and decided to join the others.
When we were leaving I heard a rubbing noise on the wall by the stairs, I went back to check if there was anything that could have done it but there wasn’t and as I walked pass the same spot again it happened again, I didn’t like this area and felt very uncomfortable and uneasy.
Dinosaur Cave
I called out, but there was no activity, I did get a shiver down my spine but apart from that I felt very at ease in this area, no matter how many times I called out.
Pyramid Cave
Garry and I did the Ouija board I called out a number of times but got no movement, we moved up the stairs a bit and tried the board again but still nothing, we then tried the dowsing rods, but all was very quiet. I called out again and we sat in silence for a little while but still no activity, I felt fine in this area.

Pyramid Cave
I didn’t really pick up any activity here. Physically, I felt pretty restless and couldn’t stand still for more that a minute. I picked up the name ‘Richard’ when the group was using the Ouija, but didn’t feel it appropriate to mention; I don’t know why, but something was telling me not to say the name aloud.
Dinosaur Cave
I was immediately drawn to the furthermost part of this cave. I felt like we were being watched from the small alcove. I believe this presence was a child (between five and seven years old), and seemed to be scared of us. When we joined hands for the séance the cave visually appeared to darken and without knowing, we had all huddled together. I’m not sure this presence was the ‘Richard’ I picked up on the last vigil. I felt he was standing between Val and I, as temperature of my right arm seemed to drop. I was not sure if this was a good or bad presence, but I didn’t feel any immediate danger.
Wine Cellar Cave
I felt a strong male presence here. I believe it was the ‘Richard’ from the previous vigils. When Val asked if anyone had any names I felt the time was right to say ‘Richard’. As soon as I said the name, Louise and Laura both said that they thought of the name ‘Richard’ the very second I said it. I didn’t pick up on anything else here, but believe we were being watched the whole time.
Main Passage
I didn’t feel any one presence here. I felt like lying down and relaxing; it was very peaceful. In my minds eye I pictured groups of monks walking though the passageway; a very religious feeling.
Conclusion
This was a very interesting and enjoyable investigation with a very strong male presence. I couldn’t picture what time this presents was from, but seemed to follow our group until his name was spoken aloud. Maybe that was all he wanted to convey?!?!

Pyramid Cave
In this area of the investigation I did feel as if there was a presence with us. I felt very uneasy to begin with and I could hear a noise as if someone was dragging something along the floor. Then I had an image of a man with a bad leg as if it was dragging along the floor, but it was not an direct problem to him He had this bad leg for a while and continued about his daily duties as normal. I and Val began to take part in the Ouija board and pick up a lot of response from it.
We had a year this male was living in. 1744. His daily job was to run around after people ‘gofer’. He missed the sunlight and that is why he liked this passage due to the light coming in from the top of the passage shining through the passage. He told us a lot of people where with him, and died here. I believe he died through suffocation, maybe the cave collapsed?
I began to feel quite at ease and then I felt ever so sad and sorry for this man that was present with us.
Dinosaur Cave
I felt extremely disorientated in this room. It was cold but I could feel myself shivering then warming up again. When holding a séance in this room I felt as if my body was swaying back and forth and felt quite unstable. I felt as if there were lots of beings around our circle just watching us, but I did not pick up on any happy activity in this area. I felt as if a secret was being held in this room and more male spirits where present. I then could see a small white figure peering around the back wall of the cave just watching and then disappeared.
Main Passage
I did not feel a lot of activity in this area. I felt quite calm and relaxed here. My body temperature remained constant throughout this vigil.
Wine Cellar Cave
I felt extremely happy and full of energy in this room. I could picture lots of people in this room as if there was a man speaking at the top of the cave and around 50-100 felloe work employees or staff were listening to him and cheering. It was as if he was praising them or discussing plans with them of what they were going to do. The people were quite merry and happy that they were there. I could picture signing and dancing in this area also. All in all I felt lots of happy energy from this room and did not feel uncomfortable or threatened at all. I was warm, cozy and extremely happy in this part of the investigation.
