Introduction
I (Maria) was introduced to the owners of this location through a mutual friend and spent a very enjoyable evening around their house whilst they regaled me with tales of their haunting. I am not going to list any phenomena here as they would like a return visit and it would spoil it for our future investigators. Needless to say, it was all very exciting and I could not wait for this investigation. Expectations aside, I was really looking forward in to getting my teeth into a private residence once more.

A private house investigation always seems so full of promise, and this was no exception. This suburban semi detached was full of character both inside and out and the atmosphere was very promising. After a very friendly welcome from our hosts and a warming cup of tea, we started our walk round. A few spikes from the EMF meter upstairs whetted our appetite and we were soon starting the vigils. I was accompanied by Wayne and the female owner of the house (who I will call Sarah to protect her anonymity) and her friend. We settled down upstairs on the landing where Wayne started to feel a cold spot which was at about child’s height. We called out and taps were heard close to where ‘Sarah’ was sat. Wayne also captured a few orbs in the same area and ‘Sarah’ felt a cold breeze on her hands. We ventured into the bathroom but didn’t really get much here, so we went into the daughters room where the EMF spiked earlier. Again, this didn’t yield much so we went into the main bedroom, where we called out and were treated to some knocks. Wayne sensed the presence of a young girl and almost immediately I got the name Amelia. This was at the same time that Wayne got the name Emily. I felt that this little girl’s name was shortened to Milly and that this could be where the name Emily came from, so we asked if the little girl could give her name to a member of the other team on our next vigil, when we would all be sitting a séance together.
After a welcome break, we all settled ourselves around the kitchen table to try some glass divination. Alison sat out with Wayne for filming and the rest of us started to ask out. The glass was reluctant to move at first and then Alison got the name of Thomas, an elderly gent who she felt may have been teased mercilessly by other adults. The glass moved in response to this but not very strongly. It then seemed as if our male host was in contact with his late mother who had only recently passed, which was a nice experience for him. Not long after, we were back in touch with the little girl that we had encountered upstairs. I asked if she could put her name into somebody else’s head and our male host immediately said ‘ Emily’ so I asked her if that was her full name, to which the glass said ‘no’, so I asked her if her full name was ‘Amelia’, to which she answered ‘yes’. I then asked her if her name was shortened to ‘Milly’, to which she replied yes. This was incredible, the fact that three of us had managed to come up with the same name. We established that she had lived there in Victorian times and that she was five years of age. The glass moved very strongly with this little girl and she was very drawn to ‘Sarah’ who she obviously recognised.
After a refreshing cup of tea, we moved on to our final vigil, which, for our team, was the ground floor. We spent most of our time in the front room which was quite exciting. Within ten minutes, the battery indicator on the camcorder dropped from 80 mintues to 37 minutes and ten minutes later the camcorder died completely and we had to operate it from the mains, where the tape showed 50 minutes remaining. Five minutes later the tape ran out. Very strange. We decided to call out and the temperature dropped quite drastically but Wayne’s hands remained warm, which was very similar to the experience at Wymering Manor, where we were all shivering and Wayne was as warm as toast! I asked for them to do something else and it was at this point that I saw a shadow in the shape of a human form walk past the front window. This was also seen by ‘Sarah’ and her friend. This was fantastic and I was so pleased to see it, especially as we had a repeat performance not long after. We also spent some time in the middle room where Wayne thought he could see the image of a man outside the patio doors. I also got the name, Herbert, which ‘Sarah’ confirmed was the name of her late uncle. This was a really exciting investigation for me and the owners have intimated that they would like a return visit. This would be fantastic as poor old Julie had to miss out on this one due to illness and I know she was very disappointed. I would like to thank our hosts for allowing us to investigate their home and for their very friendly welcome. Hope to see you both again very soon.

On hearing that we had another private house to investigate, I found myself starting to look forward to it.
On arriving, we were given a warm welcome by our hosts, and after setting up, we set to our vigils. For myself, Maria our host Julie and guest Marie, this was upstairs. We settled on the landing and after a few minutes, I started to feel a cold spot.
Immediately, I got the feeling that this was a young girl in a pink dress. The cold spot seemed to stop at about the height of a child and for some reason, I seemed to think of a child. Mrs Owner confirmed that a child had been sensed/seen, in the area.
After a while we moved on further down the hall, into the bathroom. Again, cold spots were felt, along with several knocks.
Strangely, for me, I caught sight of a small black cat rubbing itself against the corner of the wall.(as cats do) Although the owners have cats, no black cats were present, although again, one has been reported.
Moving into the middle bedroom, we attempted to ask out. Maria and myself were asking for a name to be given. I thought of the name Emily while at the same time, Maria came up with Amelia. Quite similar sounding names. This was to prove significant later in our investigation.
Another strange occurrence on this vigil was, I was actually watching the view screen of the camcorder, and it was showing 87 minutes of battery life remaining. At that point, the battery inexplicably drained, and I was left with no power whatsoever. Onto our next, and this was to be a glass divination in the kitchen.
After a long while, the glass did start moving in response to questions. At one point positively responding to questions regarding the owners mother, recently passed away. Maria asked if Amelia or Emily was there, quickly shortened to Milly. This provided a positive response.
After our break, our vigil was downstairs. Again, the camcorder, now with a fresh battery, decided to run out of tape, although the display showed 37 minutes remaining.
Maria and Mrs Owner saw what appeared to be a mans shadow walk past the window, although there was no reason for anyone to be in that area, as it is a private garden with no-where to go.
After this room, it was to the middle lounge. This was quite a scary room for me as, when we were sat in our respective seats, I saw what appeared to be the outline of a man in a long coat, just standing there looking in at us. This figure was there for all the time we were in this room. Again, Mrs Owner confirmed that a figure had been seen in this area.
Conclusion -
There is something further to be investigated in this property, possibly with different personnel, to see what if anything they would pick up.
I dont particularly think I am sensitive, but if so called spirit is strong enough to make me sense things, then maybe there is something there.
Thank you to our hosts for welcoming us and indulging our hobby.

My first private house investigation! There were two teams, I was in team 2. We walked round the house after we had arrived and settled in. We were based in the kitchen/Diner. This had 2 budgies and the 2 cats locked in for the evening, so these were noises we were aware of.
The walk around was good as the children’s lounge was cold behind the door. In the lounge I was drawn to a chair behind the door and I felt cold spots. The bathroom had a breeze but the window was double glazed (and shut). In the owners bedroom I felt sick. All that and we had not even started the investigation yet!
Vigil 1 – Downstairs
We started in the lounge at the front of the house. I sat in the chair I had been drawn to earlier. In the darkness I could see sparkling lights coming from the top of two walls near the ceiling. We did a séance and Alison picked up on an elderly man. The room seemed to get very cold and the chair I was drawn to was the owner’s mother who had passed away 12 weeks earlier.
We went into the childrens lounge where there was a two-seat sofa behind the door which I did not want to sit it. I felt scared. We felt cold spots and I saw the sparkling lights again.
We then moved on to the kitchen/diner. The owner put a chair in the area between the two areas and I sat in it. This part of the room was very cold and I was drawn back to the kitchen area. I did not see anything but was very aware that there was something there.
After a break both teams grouped in the kitchen/diner for a glass divination. At first the glass did not move but then it started. We asked questions and told it to go to Mrs owner for yes and Mr Owner for no. We found that there were 2 children, a boy and a girl (brother and sister). The girl was happy she made contact with Mrs Owner. She was happy there and was attached to Mrs Owner. We think she was either Edwardian or Victorian and she wore laced up boots.
Vigil 2 – Upstairs
The daughter’s bedroom was the first room we went into. I did not get anything in this room apart from being drawn to the door. We then went into the bathroom, which was very cold for some reason. I could not sit opposite the door as it looked out onto the landing area.
We then moved to the owner’s bedroom. I did not like this room and I felt very uneasy. I stood in the corner opposite the door and the others sat on the bed. Once again I saw sparkling lights in two different corners of the room. Also while I was stood there I was drawn to the door again. I saw a dark figure (shadowy) go across the door. This I can honestly say spooked me and I ended up sat behind Alison on the bed. When we were in this room Alison and I heard a cat cry twice but both the cats were locked in a room at the other end of the house (downstairs).
We then went into a room, which had been made into an office. I looked out of the door onto the landing area but again had to move as there was just something about that landing area that I did not like. I was feeling quite scared. Alison saw a shadow on the landing, which spooked her so she headed out onto the landing and we followed. There were two steps so she sat on them and we stood behind her. I got cold and the owner seemed to be a little spooked as he saw this dark shadow go behind me. He had seen it before but not as close. We stayed a little longer in this area but then it was time to pack up.
My first private house haunting! As this was a last minute invite for me this was extremely exciting and very spooky. Thank you to the owners for inviting us to investigate.
Alison Blyth
After doing the baseline tests our first vigil began in the downstairs area. The first room we investigated was the front room. As this was a private house the layout was of a normal room, but as soon as I entered I felt a mixture of feelings some being positive and the feeling of apprehension. I sat on the sofa in the window and initially felt comfortable, but did feel quite a few cold spots despite the property being double glazed which would rule out any drafts.
I felt the presence of three people, the first being a man who gave me more imagery than words. He was an elderly man who advised me that he once owned this house, and that the front room was originally the dining room as I given the image of a family gathering all sat around a large dining table and that the adjoining room was the living room as it was quieter as at the back of the house. He gave me the impression of being happy but suffering with his chest as I felt very tight chested and wheezy.
The second presence I felt was a small boy who seemed to be connected to the previous man. He gave me the impression of being related I think the man was his grandfather as the age gap was very large. He was a blue eyed little boy with blonde short hair, and seemed to be darting around the room totally comfortable in his surroundings.
The third was slightly stronger to me and quite confusing as I was given words which seemed to be in riddles. I knew she was a female as I could hear her voice and she would giggle after the information was given to me. She seemed new to this game and I felt she had recently passed over as she seemed quite faint at times and felt it was difficult to give information . She showed me a Hickman belt which I could hear click and gave me quite painful stomach pain. As I have personal experience of what a Hickman belt is commonly used for it saddened me to think that she had passed with cancer. I advised Mr Owner of what I was seeing and what I had been told and he advised me of who the woman could be but I understood that he would need some form of verification to enable him to identify who this person was. I asked over and over in my head and was given Marmalade for some reason. I said it aloud and assumed that this was her favourite thing but I was advised that Mr Owner did have a cat called Marmalade so it clicked for him who I could be in connection with. I asked Mr Owner if she liked the chair that Di was sitting in as I felt that she sat there on a regular basis and had claimed it as her spot as such.
We moved on to the second reception room and I felt like the first man I had come into contact with was following us as if he was doing a tour of his home. He was so clear to me and gave me the name of Bert. I felt as I sat on the sofa that this room was used as his bedroom when he became too poorly to get upstairs to his bed. The little lad also seemed to be by his side which indicated to me that they were extremely close and he was the old man’s shadow and that they were together still. I also felt like there was someone outside down the side of the house looking in the patio windows but I can’t explain anymore about that unfortunately.
Our final vigil downstairs was in the kitchen area. We sat at the table and I saw what can only be described as a thick opaque mist and I moved to it. It was situated at the right hand side of the kitchen underneath the divide between the dining area and the kitchen. I felt this was a woman and she seemed to be showing me that the kitchen as it is today was back to front. There was a large range type cooker on the right hand side and she liked to bake there which is why she remained here. She also advised me that there was a window on both sides and no cabinets there obscuring the view to the garden. I also felt that the back door was significant and felt that someone had been seen coming in from outside and felt that pigeons had been kept. I also felt great pain and asked if there was someone who had problems with gallstones and was suffering from billary attacks. It was confirmed that there is someone who was suffering from this condition and had been suffering with the pain that comes with these attacks .I had the distinct impression that this house was used as a nursing home as I seemed to be given quite a few aches and pains whilst here.
I was told by the lady in the front room to say about a darning needle and she giggled. This came out of the blue and it was confirmed that Mr Owner does do needlecraft so I assumed this was further verification for him personally.
After our break we conducted a séance in the kitchen. A small girl was picked up and Maria, Wayne and Mr Owner came out with the same name. She was Milly and confirmed that she was the little girl who had made herself known on quite a few occasions to Mr and Mrs Owner. Whilst the séance was in progress I heard noises from the hallway so decided to stand there to see what was going on. I heard a woman’s voice telling me ‘Thomas Bailey he pees daily’ and smelt what could only be described as French tobacco as sickly sweet smell of a pipe smoker.
Our last vigils were upstairs. Whilst sat in the master bedroom I felt like I had been sedated which made me feel very woozy. Both Di and I heard three cat cries, and we both called out ‘here puss’ as it was so clear. We were assured that there were no animals in this area but I have never heard that before so clearly. Di also saw a dark shadow move across the wall and strangely I also saw the shadow of a man of about 5’10 who would walk the corridor. We later discovered that he was a shy man who seemed to have downs syndrome or was slightly mentally disabled and he would walk the corridor until he was told to return to his room which seemed to be at the far room of the front of the house. He seemed to be performing this action on a loop. We sat in the bedroom nearest the front of the house with the door open, and I did see a small child stood at the top of the stairs. Whilst I couldn’t see her features she stayed there for a good few seconds which shocked me. I also sat in the bathroom and felt like this room was constantly full to the extent of the homeowners actually saying ‘can I have some time for me please’.
All in all a fascinating place with such a mixture of emotions. In my opinion one of the most interesting places I have visited. I would like to thank the owners for welcoming us into their home.
Conclusion
This was a fascinating night for all concerned with some great activity in all areas. The owners are very proud of their ghosts, and rightfully so, as there is certainly nothing bad here, just some very happy and active spirits! We touched the tip of the iceberg with this investigation as I know of a lot more phenomena that we didn’t get on the night. All in all what did happen was very impressive and I would like to thank the owners for a great night, which I hoped they enjoyed just as much as we did.
