Private House in Essex

Tenants Present –For sake of the report they are referred to as Robert & Anne and all other details are kept anonymous.
Introduction
Kerry Price (London & Essex) team leader completed a pre investigation with the family a couple of weeks prior to the teams visit to talk through some of the things that they had been through and to let them know what would be happening when the team investigated. She also explained that if the couple wanted to they could get involved and at any point that they felt uneasy we would stop and close down the investigation. Kerry also researched the area and its history thoroughly before the visit however no information about the couples experiences or of the history of the area/land was given to the team prior to the investigation.
The Investigation team also had the property address withheld from them and on the evening of the investigation they all met at a local train station, where Kerry was then able to lead them to the house. This way, although the team all trust each other not to research prior to an investigation, the team could assure the tenants no research at all (bar Kerry’s) had been done.
The Tenants of this property invited Southern Paranormal UK into their home after they had experienced a number of unexplained happenings. One of the tenants Robert has been pushed out or over his bed several times and their oldest daughter Sally had been seeing people in their home, which she claimed to be able to talk to. Cold breezes had been felt even in the warmest of rooms and these seemed to occur when the family talked of the strange occurrences. Their central heating thermometer was played with on a regular basis turning the heating in the house right up or right down and the couple had both witnessed what they described as shadowy figures climbing the stairs. The families 2 dogs, though normally quite quiet also seemed to sense things that the people in the house could not see and would bark in parts at the house at what seemed like nothing.
The house itself was believed not to be the cause of these events as it was fairly new, however the land it was built on, we felt could hold the answers to the mysterious happenings in the couples property.
The team would like to express their sincere thanks to Robert and Anne who opened up their home to us. I hope that although we could not give you the firm answers that you sought, that what we did experience with you on the night may help you research further as to the possible cause of events.
We would like to point out that the couple’s children were not present in the house on the night of the investigation.

Main Bedroom Vigil – Julie, Steve & Abbie
All team hear loud bang from outside the room. They presume as it is a very obvious sound that it came from the team at the bottom of the stairs, but when they check team did not make or even hear a loud bang.
Julie & Abbie then hear a knock/bang from behind the main wardobes. Team consider it may be boiler or hot water pipes.
Steve and Abbie are staring at a strip of wood leaning up against the wall. Abbie feels like she is waiting for it to move.
Team make their way into children’s room next to main bedroom. Abbie feels very uneasy in here. Julie and Steve stand and Abbie sits on small desk chair. Team call out and after a couple of seconds Abbie starts to cough uncontrollably. Julie and Steve check she is alright but decide to take her out of the room as she is feeling very disorientated and confused. When they leave the room they notice her face is beetroot red and she looks a little dazed.

As I had done the preliminary visit to this property ,I was quite excited to be going back .I felt that the whole area was quite active and if we stuck around for long enough we may actually see something.
Séance in Lounge
The whole team got together with the tenants of the property to conduct a séance in the lounge area.
Harri , Steve C & Abbie had quite a lot of strong feeling coming through in this séance.
Harri got mad at me(Kerry) calling out and said that she wanted to hit me. The anger then turned on Steve as he took a turn in calling out.
Steve said that he had an image of a motorbike and then fields.
Robert could sense many horses on the land .I found this strange as I had picked up horses on my last visit.
Justin drew a picture of what came into his head. It was an old male figure whom he believed to have worked in a school but, not as a teacher. He was very strict and Justin could hear panicking children. He didn’t like children or youngsters and he didn’t agree with the age gap (which I presumed to be between Robert & Anne).
Many sensations were felt by the team and tenants. Cold spots were also felt and some small noises.
Harri, myself and Abbie believed that the spirit that was strongest here was a male who was quite angry.
Harri’s anger turned to amusement when I started calling out again, she had fits of uncontrollable laughter. After a while I started to get angry and could have quite literally dragged Harri outside. This was not how I felt with Harri ,just that I thought that this was the temperament of the spirit.
Some thumps/bangs were heard upstairs and the whole group started to develop pins & needles.
More thumps were heard upstairs and by the lounge door. No one was there.
This was a very strange séance as usually the proceedings take quite a while to get off the ground and also most of the group felt something. Some a touch and some had changes in emotions and body temperature.
A strange séance.
Julie, Abbie, Steve G go upstairs to conduct a vigil in the bedrooms while myself, Harri, Justin & Steve start a vigil on the stairs. Myself and Harri were sitting on the stairs while Steve and Justin filmed and took pictures.
Vigil 1:Stairs
We were joined by the tenants who soon left as they said that they could see the shadow that had scared them on previous occasions and went into another room.
A strange light was picked up in front of me and also a very large shadow which could not be accounted for. I kept looking behind me throughout this vigil as I felt as though there was someone behind me and then moving around the landing. The temperature felt as though it was changing quite a lot, there were not any draughts to account for this.
I could here the other group in one of the bedrooms, they called out if I had heard a bang or had moved up the stairs. I had been in the same position and had not moved. They also said that they could see a light. I had a very small torch on me which I kept covered by my notebook. I shone the torch to show them what light would be shown but, it was not the same as they had experienced. After about 5 more minutes of the vigil I became quite uneasy. I was quite glad when it was over. Abbie comes out of her vigil tight chested and feeling quite off colour and is taken outside.

We repositioned the hall camera so that it was in the lounge looking out into the hall.
I had a really strange feeling in this vigil .For a long time I was sitting worrying, not about anything particular. I could feel a wedding band on my finger which I felt like twisting round & round
Abbie said that she believed that a spirit in the house was attracted to young females, I had felt the same but cannot explain why. There were some strange noises heard, knocks and bangs, some whistles and some thumps above us.
Anne was quite scared by this time as she said that she could feel someone sitting on her lap ,a girl with long brown hair who wouldn’t stop clinging to her. She felt cold. This feeling did not leave her even though she got up and walked around.
I had a feeling(can’t explain)that the child had lost her mum and just wanted to hold on to a female mother figure. Anne was the only female in the house who had children.
Some of us felt that there were 2 children one nice and the other not so nice.
Ouija:Whole group in kitchen
This ouija was very interesting as the glass moved almost from the moment we started asking questions. The movements were very strong and full of purpose. We asked many questions to ascertain who the spirit/s were. We got many answers but nothing conclusive to my mind. The answers we did get will need to be researched which at the moment is ongoing.
One thing I will say is that on a previous investigation at this site another group came up with a name for the spirit in the house. From the answers we got it may very well be the same person, however at this stage I cannot say for sure. We were doing ouija for a long time and felt that there was strong spirit presence. Harri and Steve c said during the evening that they believed that the spirits were not attached to the property but, were showing themselves here as they had a sensitive audience. I am inclined to believe this as I did not feel that what was happening was peculiar to the house but to the area.
Steven Crouch
I was apprehensive when I was informed that we were going to be doing a vigil at someone’s house. A residence that is experiencing poltergeist activity, and being lived in now affecting it’s residents. Then I though, well most of the places we visit were lived in at some point, we are just getting in a little early! As my first vigil this year it was something I was looking forward to.
This is the first time for me that I had been to give answers to people as opposed to self edification and I was not sure how well we would perform.
It was a bitterly cold night and after eventually parking up it was the energy started to build. It was just a ‘normal’ looking house I thought. Why this property? What’s so different here? I suppose that was what we were going to find out!
After meeting the owners of property I sat down in the front room on my own and grounded myself. I felt as if there was a lot of psychic energy built up in the house.
We then asked the owners if they wanted to join in with the nights proceedings and left them to think about it.
I asked Kerry if there was a child in the house that had just started school as I was picking up a lot of energy, and my suspicions were confirmed. This is not uncommon for children to generate poltergeist activity when they are nervous or stressed and this could be part of the issue. This is especially true if the child is ‘sensitive’ or other family members are.
We went outside whilst the owners decided on their involvement.
Our first activity was a séance which was interesting and I got the image of a guy wearing a dark leather jacket and dark trousers, holding a motorbike helmet in his hand. This was for me the catalyst energy of the property but was in some way linked to the wife of the house, although I am unsure how. I pictured the guy on the high street just standing there. This image also changed to fields. After a while Harri started to get angry with whoever was asking the questions and this made some people nervous. The temperature fluctuated dramatically through out the séance. There were also occasional noises throughout the house. I got a name for the young man of Robert. We also seemed to contact a young girl. I got the name Emily which I later changed to Amelie. This was not concurring with the name of a little girl that was thought to visit the property. It was however, the name that I got.
It was an interesting séance but after another break we did some vigils throughout the house. When we went upstairs the young girls bedroom gave a negative energy presence and was the least enticing of all the rooms. We went in one room and heard the cry of small child, even though there were children in the house. It was odd that every room we went in the energy seemed to either go back tot the previous room or go to the next room. Our vigils were quite inconclusive.
After the vigils I sensed the husband of the property’s grandmother in the house. I suspected a link to temperature and this was confirmed by the husband. This spirit was not malicious in anyway.
There was some divination carried out in the kitchen which was very interesting but I did not think related to the poltergeist activity.
To conclude the event I think that there are a lot people in the house that are sensitive to spirit and are fuelling each other. When they moved to this house they bought their own spiritual luggage with them. The property they now reside in has many layers some of recent history and some of old history. I think this old energy (maybe of a cemetery) is being harnessed and used to scare these people. I think that if they moved out of the house the problem would not resolve. I think that they need to come to terms with the fact that they are sensitive to spirit and learn how to control their own energy. By doing this they will be able to ground some of these spirits that are using their energy on the earth plane to fuel another plane. There are many ways that this can be done and I am sure that if they take this information they will notice marked improvement in the behaviour of the activity.

Being one of the less spiritually sensitive people on the investigation team I was interested to see if there was anything I could pick up while on this visit. For once I was completely unaware of any of the history of the area or any previous sightings by the couple. Usually as Dorset & Hampshire Team leader I do the research into areas and locations so it was quite a treat for me not to have to this time.
In our séance in the lounge I experienced what I would describe as a little tickle on the top of my head. I was taking notes at the time with my back to the curtained patio door, so I can not be certain (with my long hair) whether it could have just been the curtains touching the back of my head. I also have been trying to learn to write down any names that come into my head, to see if these are of any relevance or just random thoughts. During the séance I had 5 names come into my head and these were Anne, Annie, Browns, Bert and Babel. Like I say I have no idea why I thought of these names at this particular time but thought it important to note them just in case. It will be interesting to see if Kerry finds any relevance to them.
Myself Steve and Abbie then went up to Robert and Anne’s bedroom. We were very close to the other team and so decided not to call out in case we disturbed them. Minutes after settling down we all heard a loud bang and presumed, as it was so purposeful that it was the team on the stairs. I was going to leave it but Steve very rightly said I should check with the other team. Interestingly they had not made a bang but did not hear a bang either. The even more interesting thing is the bang was not picked up on the locked off camcorder in the room or on any of the dictaphones!? Very strange as even if it was something natural like pipes or boiler then it should have been recorded especially on the camcorder in the same room. We then went through to the children’s room next door and by this time I was starting to worry a bit about Abbie. Not only is she family but she was the youngest in the team and was starting to feel unwell and very hot. When we were in the next room she sat down while Steve and I stood and after a couple of minutes Abbie started coughing uncontrollably and went very red in the face and dazed. We decided that we should leave the room and take Abbie for some fresh air.
I could not say that I myself experienced any activity that I would consider paranormal however I know a couple of members of the team had very strong experiences and also took some very strange that at the moment are unexplainable, digital pictures. Another thing that was very real was the fear and the concern that Robert and Anne felt after their many experiences. You could tell they were honest people who were very concerned about what was happening to them and in that respect I am sorry we could not give them more answers.

Its been the first time for southern paranormal that i knew a little of the supposed activity in this house and the fact that the word poltergeist was used made sure i had my coat on and ready to make the trek to Essex.
If your looking for the archetypal haunted house this is about as far away from it as you could find.
Talking to the owners its obvious they accept there are some welcome or unwelcome spiritual visitors in the property but you cant quite put your finger on why they are there.The equipment including the locked off cameras failed to report anything unusual although i know a lot of orbs were caught on the stairs. A simple experiment conducted on the night showed me that this was greatly exaggerated by movement up the stairs as it created the dust particules that produced frantic so called "light anomolies." The reported cold spots felt i believe were nothing more than a displacement of cold air through the doors and around the house - i noted there were several places that created draughts naturally - one being under the curtains in the front room and the thermometer verified this.
Its very easy to be dismissive of supposed paranormal activity particulary when it affects the people involved so much,so the owners testimony (as they live there) is the best evidence to put forward on this investigation and i thank them for allowing us into their home.
Conclusion
This was a very interesting house to investigate. I believe, as I have already stated that the activity is peticular to the area. The area surrounding the house has had many uses from a Roman settlement, to army and RAF bases. It has also been school land (which is very interesting) and there is still a school about 100 yards away. I will continue to research the area and the names and information that came up. I do believe that the area itself is haunted and has been for many, many years.
